In an old house, a couple dwelled,
Their love and bond, no words withheld.
But trouble brewed, right from the start,
For mother-in-law did join their part.

Cooking she'd barge in, without a knock,
Adding spices, as though they couldn't rock.
"These potatoes need more oomph," she'd say,
While the couple wondered, "Will she ever go away?

Next, she inspected their humble abode,
Rearranging furniture, to each her code.
"This couch, it's wrong," she'd loudly proclaim,
Causing the couple's hearts to sink in shame.

But the husband, clever as can be,
With a twinkle in his eye, said, "Listen to me.
Let's change the game, with a little quirk,
Make it a contest, just for a smirk."

From then on, each day they'd plan a feat,
To see whose advice they'd secretly defeat.
In the kitchen, they'd cook with flare,
Mixing flavors, oh how they'd dare!

With each challenge embraced, they'd cleverly play,
Mother-in-law's influence began to sway.
For in their union, the couple would find,
A bond that laughed at problems, left no one behind.
