Peace that we as Christ-followers can enjoy each and every day throughout our entire lifetime. And, it is this peace that those who do not believe in Jesus Christ never acquire but always long for. Without the peace granted through Our Lord, millions of people strive but never obtain it no matter how many things, possessions or fortresses they attempt to build to quiet themselves.

When each Christian puts their faith and trust in the Lord, a quiet calm comes over us; a calmness of presence, a calmness of thankfulness, and a calmness of desiring this peace for those around us. Oftentimes, it is this internal peace that we have that is difficult to explain to others who do not know and trust Christ. However, this is a time to explain to them what Peter said to us in 1 Peter 3: 15, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." It is this hope that gives us peace for we know with all of our hearts that this life will pass away and unfold into eternal life with God. There is no better peace of heart, peace on earth than this.

Over the years, I'm sure, each person reading these words will have countless stories of difficulties and problems that have only been quieted by the presence of the indwelling Holy Spirit who serves to speak in quiet resolve to our spirit. It is through this Spirit that peace reigns while the wildfires of life go on all around us but not within us.
