Leaving Me

This poem, Leaving Me, was written during a breakup. How difficult it is when a relationship is over. Especially when one person doesn't want it to end.

Let the words of this poem give you the inspiration to move on. Marilyn Monroe said it best when she said, "Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." At the time we may feel like we had a good thing, but you have to believe there is something better. Marilyn's words are encouraging for someone who felt the relationship was good!

Share these with someone who is going through an ending. Remind them of the words of Len Santos, "Letting go has never been easy, but holding on can be as difficult. Yet strength is measured not by holding on, but by letting go." The best thing we can do at times is just to let go. Staying stuck in the past and what we had hinders us from moving on with our lives. And many times when we look back a year from now we can see perhaps it was a good thing to let it go!

  1. Leaving Me
    Poet: Julie Hebert, 2011

    I need you now,
    Not then or there.
    How can you be,
    Leaving me.

    For this I've felt,
    And never liked,
    The thought of you,
    Not being there.

    When will you come,
    To me again,
    To make sure everything,
    Between us is fine.

    For if you leave,
    I’m scared to say,
    One day you're heart,
    May no longer be mine.

  2. i will not try to convince you to love me, to respect me, to commit to me. I deserve better than that; I am better than that...Goodbye

  3. Good To End
    Poet: Catherine Pulsifer

Sometimes what we have is not
    Requires more than support
    What we think we have
Looking back will make you mad.

It is better to let go
Then live your life in a low
As hard as it may be
It is better to be free

We all deserve to be happy
But there are times of emptiness
Keep moving on; time is a friend
Looking back you will see it was good to end.

  4. One Year Later
    Poet: Catherine Pulsifer

    Now I look back
    And see the fact
That leaving was the best thing to do.

    At the time
I couldn't get it in my mind
That life would be better without you.

    But time has past
    I feel free at last
Truly the best thing that could have happened.

    Time has a way
    Of making things okay
    So don't regret, just accept!
