Fear and Faith
Poet: Harry Emerson Fosdick
Fear imprisons, faith liberates;
fear paralyzes, faith empowers;
fear disheartens, faith encourages;
fear sickens, faith heals;
fear makes useless, faith makes serviceable
And, most of all,
Fear puts hopelessness ath the heart o life,
While faith rejoices in its God.
Bible Verses on Faith:
Now faith is assurance of things hoped for,
proof of things not seen.
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.
This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.
I John 5:4
This is the boldness which we have toward him, that,
if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.
I John 5:14
But let him ask in faith, without any doubting,
for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea,
driven by the wind and tossed.
Jesus said to him, "If you can believe,
all things are possible to him who believes."
It is only by living completely in this world that one learns to have faith.
Christian faith isn't so much what you say you believe but how you behave in a consistent manner.
Too often we try to use God to change our circumstance, when God is trying to use our circumstance to change us.
Fully devoted followers of Christ are willing to forsake the known for the unknown. They choose to trust God and walk by faith not by sight or human logic.
Sometimes the Lord will lead us differently from where we would like to go. But what we must come to recognize is that the will of God is perfect, and we should never be afraid of it.
The great test of faith is to wait on God . . . not expecting to push a button and get whatever we want now.
