A Short Poem for Your Step-Father
To Step-Father From Us
Poet: Julie Hebert, (c) 2011
Step-Fathers have it hard,
They take so much crap from us
But once we realize you're not leaving,
It's time for us to express.
We need to express our thankfulness,
For taking good care of our Mom.
I know it sometimes felt like,
You were living the war of Vietnam.
We didn't mean to make you,
Feel like you weren't wanted.
I suppose at the beginning you were really,
Someone that was unwanted.
Eventually we gave in,
And saw the man you are.
We now would like to thank you,
You've been a superstar.
It's Fathers Day today,
And although you aren't our real Dad.
To us you’ve been a friend,
We are so lucky and so glad.
So we'd like to call a truce,
We hope we weren't that bad.
We're here to tell you something else,
Happy Fathers Day Step-Dad!
