What Comes After Rainbows?

A Stress Thought
What Comes After Rainbows?

For many of us, we've seen rainbows at one time or another. And, for many of us, we subconsciously wished we could follow the rainbow to find the pot of gold.
But, wishing for that pot of gold is no more than the miner falsely celebrating a chunk of fool's gold. And, that's what wishing really is - fool's gold.

As is too often the case, wishing for something, like a higher paying job, is no more than a wish because there is either no commitment to do more to get what you wished for.

Far too often, I hear people I know wishing they had financial success like so many of their friends have, or wishing they had a business of their own so they wouldn't have to report to a boss anymore.

Unfortunately, wishing is a fool's delight because if you do what you always done, you'll get what you've always got - the same. Part of the problem, it seems, is that some of these "pot of gold" seekers are risk adverse. They don't want to acknowledge that those who are successful not only made their own rainbow but, more importantly, endured the failures, or the associated hard work, or setbacks to finally arrive at their "pot of gold".

The thought of risk taking for many is tantamount to accepting the "I can't" syndrome as their main station in life. They will find every excuse in the book, and then some, to convince themselves that they can't achieve, can't learn new techniques, can't afford it right now, or can't afford to take a risk. Is this you?

What is so sad about those who've adopted the "I can't" syndrome, as a way of life, is that they could achieve what they wanted. Some of these people have taken the "I can't" syndrome and further enhanced it's impact by adding the "fear of failure" as a subconscious excuse.

To risk, to make a change, to do more than you've always done is to fear that you'll fail. They'd rather complain and moan, and embrace the "poor me" attitude than to admit openly that they might fail.

The main tenet of success is to face fear headlong by taking action. If you want a new life - take action. If you want a higher paying job - take action. If you want the "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow - take action.

Action doesn't mean, however, that a new life, a higher paying job, or the "pot of gold" will be accomplished in one foul swoop. It means that you'll have to develop an action plan that clearly shows what steps you need to take, and when.

Remember, that a mountain can be brought to the ground by taking away one stone at a time. Will it happen overnight? No. But, over time, with perseverance, hard work, and determination, a different life can be created.

What comes after rainbows? Taking one step at a time on your way to achieving what you want.
