A Simplicity Story, Thought What Are My Priorities? By Catherine Pulsifer, © 2007
When living a simple life, there are times where you still need to determine what your priorities are.
There are only so many hours in a day, and if you don't set some priorities you could end up wasting your day.
On my fridge I have a quote.
that for me is one of my favorite
deep and meaningful quotes.
It reads like this:
This saying applies to everyone no matter what your lifestyle is. So my dilemma with setting my priorities often comes down to doing housework (which I hate doing), or creating fused glass (which I love doing). You guessed where my priorities are; they are in creating fused glass. Not that I never do housework, but it is not on the top of my list. I have a friend who always seems to be doing housework. She often complains to me about never having the time to work on her paintings. Many times I have said to her, let the housework go just for a day. But, she always worries about some one dropping over and her house may be a bit untidy. I asked her what she think of me when she visits my home. She always replies, "But you are busy with your glass." And, I often reply to her, "Then why aren't you busy with your painting?" The same goes for my Mum. When she comes to visit, she always dries the dishes. I often tell her let the dishes drip dry. In my opinion, it is a waste of time to dry dishes, and it is more sanitary if you let the dishes drip dry anyway. Rather than drying dishes, I would rather read a good book, go for a walk, call a friend - much more meaningful things to do than dry the dishes. Enjoying all that life has to offer. It is about getting my priorities right - doing the things I love to do. |
