There is nothing worse than trying to sleep, or waking up in the middle of the night and unable to go back to sleep. You might be tossing and turning because you have issues on your mind, or thoughts of projects unfinished. If sleepless nights find their way to your bedroom, here are a couple of suggestions that just might help.
1. Instead of fighting sleep, do something positive. If you need to clean your house, do it. Just do it quietly so you don't disturb somebody else who is sleeping.
2. Get out your set of earphones, and play some relaxing music.
3. If you have a headache, backache or heartburn, take care of the symptoms.
4. If an issue has awakened you, get pen and paper, or your home computer, and devise an action plan to rectify the issue. Sometimes, it just helps by sitting and writing where the physical action of writing helps free the mind of conscious problems.
5. Do some goal setting that helps move your life, career, or business further toward completion. Maybe you have been putting off declaring your goals - now is the time to get busy and free your mind.
6. Sit down in a relaxing chair or couch and dream of a vacation that you'd like to take. Make the dream as vivid as you can so you can picture yourself having a relaxing time doing what you want to do, where you want to do it.
7. Here is a good time to write those letters or emails you've been neglecting to answer. Write to those who may need some positives in their life, or need a word of encouragement in their lives.
8. Do you have a quiet hobby? Great. This is a good time to spend uninterrupted time to work on what you want. If you're a painter, either start a painting, or work to finish one that needs your attention.
The point here is that rather than toss and turn, or start to get frustrated, do something else. Maybe your mind just needs to move in a different direction for a few minutes, or a few hours before you feel the urge to sleep.
Time doesn't have to be wasted. Sleepless nights, or disturbed sleep can provide the means to get done what you've wanted, or need to get done.
Stress relief comes in various forms, and while some of the above may not be the answer for you, develop your own techniques so you too can find the calm of deep sleep.
