85 years old, and a new wrinkle with every issue!
We just recently discovered this magazine. We were at our local library and saw an old copy. We borrowed it from the library and we're glad we did. The magazine is filled with wonderful articles. We have subscribed to the magazine, and it will become another resource to help us as we simplify our life.
Countryside & Small Stock Journal was established in 1917. It is still popular today and supports the voluntary simplicity movement by providing articles to sustain a simple life. You will find articles on:
- gardening,
- small-scale livestock,
- cooking,
- food preservation,
- resource conservation,
- recycling,
- frugality,
- money management,
- alternative energy,
- old-time skills,
- home business,
- and much more.
The magazine is filled with lots of useful tips and advice for simplifying your life. And, the articles are written by people who are actually living a simplified life - they write of their own personal experiences. So rather than reading a lot of theory you are reading actual experiences of people's successes.
We found the magazine was a breath of fresh air - as it was printed on recycled paper. While their are some advertisements, it was not full of advertisements. So many times when we buy a magazine we find every other page is an advertisment, and Countryside is a nice change - more information rather than more advertisements in the magazine.
We keep the magazines and have referred to back copies of it on many occasions. It is a magazine that you will read, but one that you will find yourself referring to as you start new projects!
Each magazine is packed with lots of good information from people who are actually living a simple life. Check your local library and see if they have a copy....you may find, like us, once you have read a copy, you may want to subscribe to the magazine.
