Christmas Songs
Poet: Julie Hebert, © 2011
Christmas songs are so much fun,
I love to sing all year long.
The problem is my friends can't stand them,
I wish they'd sing along.
I know they think they should be saved,
For Christmas time at best.
But why not practice them all year,
I don't understand their request!
Christmas songs are so darn catchy,
I couldn't possibly just forget.
They will just have to get over it,
And sing with me a duet!

Red, Green and Tinsel
Poet: Julie Hebert, © 2011
So much to love about Christmas,
Who could ever say they don't.
Red and green everywhere,
How Christmas is so well known.
We love to see the houses,
Decorated so festively.
Tinsel so very shinny,
Can't wait to see my Christmas tree.
Can't forget the presents,
Under the big colorful tree.
Every year there's more than expected,
I'm so lucky, that is me.

What Christmas Is All About
Poet: Julie Hebert, © 2011
We have to go back to the basics,
The day our Jesus was born.
As this is the day that we celebrate,
Our Savior was here in the morn.
We teach our children that Christmas,
Is trees, pageants and presents.
But let us not forget,
Christmas is Jesus event!

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself.
Norman Wesley Brooks

When we live Christmas every day.

A time for gifts and all good things
A happy time it brings.

Somehow, not only for Christmas
But all the long year through,
The joy that you give to others
Is the joy that comes back to you.
And the more you spend in blessing
The poor and lonely and sad,
The more of your heart's possessing
Returns to you glad.
John Greenleaf Whittier

More Christmas verses and short poems:
Let Christmas not become a thing
Merely of merchant's trafficking,
Of tinsel, bell and holly wreath
And surface pleasure, but beneath
The childish glamour, let us find
Nourishment for soul and mind.
Let us follow kinder ways
Through our teeming human maze,
And help the age of peace to come
From a Dreamer's martyrdom.
Madeline Morse
A Christmas candle is a lovely thing;
It makes no noise at all,
But softly gives itself away;
While quite unselfish, it grows small.
Eva K. Logue
What is Christmas?
It is tenderness for the past,
courage for the present,
hope for the future.
It is a fervent wish that
every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal,
and that every path may lead to peace.
Agnes M. Pahro
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring - not even a mouse:
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.
Clement C. Moore
From home to home, and heart to heart,
from one place to another.
The warmth and joy of Christmas
brings us closer to each other.
Emily Matthews
At Christmas
A man is at his finest towards the finish of the year;
He is almost what he should be when the Christmas season's here;
Then he's thinking more of others than he's thought the months before,
And the laughter of his children is a joy worth toiling for.
He is less a selfish creature than at any other time;
When the Christmas spirit rules him he comes close to the sublime...
Edgar Guest
Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, Love Divine;
Love was born at Christmas;
Star and angels gave the sign.
Christina Rossetti
Wishing you all the season's best
May it be one that you feel blessed
We hope the holidays are joyous ones
For you and all your sons.
K. Summers
Hope Santa brings
all those special things
But most of all
May it be the best Christmas you can recall.
S. Hudson

Enjoy these verses:
It was always said of him,
that he knew how to keep Christmas well,
if any man alive possessed the knowledge.
May that be truly said of us, and all of us!
And so, as Tiny Tim observed, “God Bless Us, Every One!
Charles Dickens
During this Christmas season,
May you be blessed
With the spirit of the season,
which is peace,
The gladness of the season,
which is hope,
And the heart of the season,
which is love
Author Unknown
Wouldn't life be worth the living
Wouldn't dreams be coming true
If we kept the Christmas spirit
All the whole year through?
Author Unknown
May the spirit of Christmas bring you peace,
The gladness of Christmas give you hope,
The warmth of Christmas grant you love.
Author Unknown
I love the Christmas-tide, and yet,
I notice this, each year I live;
I always like the gifts I get,
But how I love the gifts I give!
Carolyn Wells
I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
The earth has grown old with its burden of care
But at Christmas it always is young,
The heart of the jewel burns lustrous and fair
And its soul full of music breaks the air,
When the song of angels is sung.
Phillips Brooks

With family and friends around to give you a reason
To celebrate the special day
In every possible way.
B. Rivers
Best wishes for a happy holiday
May it be what you wish in every way
Take time to relax and put up your feet
Before the new year hits and your beat.

Christmas gift suggestions:
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.
