Babies are a gift. We all love them, and they bring out special qualities in each of us.

The words of Vincent van Gogh describes the feeling of a baby well: "If one feels the need of something grand, something infinite, something that makes one feel aware of God, one need not go far to find it. I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the expression of the eyes of a little baby when it wakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle."

As you read the short verses we hope it reminds you of how special babies truly are. Feel free to share these with new parents, grandparents and siblings. The poets words have a great way of expressing the miracle of the newborn.

You will find some from famous poets and others by people who are creative. Let their rhymes and verses in these short poems be ones that inspire you.

For A Child
Poet: Jaymac, (c)

From each and everyone of us
Who know just what your plight is,
Best wishes come
To mend your tum
Of the appendicitis,
May ne'er a tear drop cloud your eye
In fact may you have dry days
And proudly show your scar each morn
With matinees on Fridays!

You Turn Two

Poet: K. Summers
On your birthday as you turn two
It almost made me feel a bit blue

Only yesterday you were born
And as you grow I feel a bit torn

The days fly by
And you're no longer a baby I think with a sigh

Watching you grow has been a delight
With each passing day you are a blessing in our sight
